Fire Sprinkler System Installation – New School, North Edmonton
Project Overview:
Rotaflow is currently completing the installation of a brand new fire sprinkler system for a new school development in North Edmonton. As part of this project, Rotaflow has been involved not only in the field installation, but also in the design of the sprinkler system, helping deliver a coordinated solution from planning through construction.
The project began in mid-2025 and is scheduled for completion in late 2026. Once complete, the school will be equipped with a modern fire sprinkler system designed to support life safety, code compliance, and long-term protection for students, staff, and the facility itself.
This project also presented an opportunity to balance fire protection performance with architectural considerations, particularly in visible interior spaces where aesthetics were important to the building design.

The Challenge:
Like many institutional projects, this school development involves large common spaces, high ceilings, and wide hallways that require careful planning for sprinkler coverage. One of the main challenges was finding ways to limit visible pipe exposure in key areas while still maintaining system performance and meeting design requirements.
Routing larger sprinkler mains and risers to feed high ceiling spaces required close coordination, particularly in areas where exposed services could affect the architectural appearance of halls and rooms.
As construction progressed, maintaining alignment between fire protection requirements, architectural intent, and field conditions required ongoing communication and flexibility.
Rotaflow’s Solution:
Rotaflow addressed these challenges through a combination of in-house design expertise, field coordination, and collaboration with the project architect.
Our design team worked closely with field technicians to review layouts, adjust routing where needed, and identify solutions that would reduce visual impact while maintaining proper sprinkler coverage.
Through constant communication with the architect and site teams, Rotaflow was able to support a sprinkler system design that balances life safety, constructability, and building aesthetics.
Implementation:
The project has involved both design coordination and phased installation as construction progresses. During implementation, Rotaflow made adjustments to portions of the sprinkler mains to improve pipe placement in select halls and rooms, helping create cleaner-looking spaces while maintaining system functionality.
Key implementation activities have included:
- Designing the fire sprinkler system for the new school
- Coordinating sprinkler mains and risers for high ceiling areas
- Adjusting pipe routing to reduce exposed piping where possible
- Working with architectural and construction teams to support visual and functional goals
- Installing sprinkler system components as part of the overall construction schedule
Rotaflow’s team has continued to manage the project with a focus on workmanship, coordination, and long-term system performance.
Results:
The project is progressing toward completion in late 2026, with a new fire sprinkler system being installed throughout the school to support safe occupancy and long-term building protection.
Expected project outcomes include:
- Complete installation of a modern fire sprinkler system for a new school facility
- Improved integration of fire protection systems with architectural design
- Reduced visual impact of piping in key interior spaces
- Reliable sprinkler protection for classrooms, common areas, and large-volume spaces
- Fire protection infrastructure designed to support long-term safety and compliance
This project demonstrates Rotaflow’s experience in school fire sprinkler systems, fire protection design, and institutional construction projects, where both technical performance and thoughtful coordination matter.
